My studio is filled with bins and drawers overflowing with papers, fabrics, and all kinds of interesting bits and pieces. It's a wonderfully creative mess, and I love searching through my collection to find just the right textures and patterns for each painting.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEvery piece begins with a simple idea, but that's only the starting point. As I paint, layer, tear, and arrange materials, the artwork takes on a life of its own. The composition evolves naturally, often ending up somewhere I never expected. That process of discovery is what makes creating so exciting—no two pieces are ever alike.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMy original mixed-media paintings are created with layers of acrylic paint, hand-cut and torn papers, and textiles such as lace, doilies, burlap, and other fabrics. I often incorporate charcoal, ink, stamps, and a variety of mark-making techniques to build texture, depth, and visual interest.
